Intertwined Textile Art

Based in Connecticut, I use batik and other fabrics to create woven art on a twining loom.

This is a weaving in progress. A piece this size takes about 40 hours to weave.

Preparing the fabric for twining takes about as long as the twining itself.

This is a commissioned piece still on the loom.

Commissioned pieces allow you to select the fabric components of your rug, and I can assist in selecting patterns and fabrics which will translate into a work that fits your vision.

Commissioned pieces also make unique gifts which can be tailored to the recipients favorite colors, themes, and interests.

You also have the option of selecting components from my fabric collection or providing your own.

Any piece can have embellishments added for additional personalization. Beading, de-constructed jewelry, stone fetishes, charms, keys, pet tags—any sentimental object can live on as part of woven textile art. It is a great way to display items which might be hidden away or to memorialize a loved person or pet.

This piece was inspired by a visit to my sister in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I call it Mardi Gras, even though blue is not a traditional Mardi Gras color. I find that the blue fits because it’s evocative of the bayou.

This piece, entitled “Amanacer,” was inspired by a mural found at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Congregation in New London, Connecticut.

Like the inspirational mural, this piece depicts sunrise and the possibilities of dawn.
